In 1980, Bobby Weed--who began playing golf when he was 10--began working under Pete and Alice Dye at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C. It was an assignment that would set his career in motion.

In 1982, he was named superintendent at the Dye-built TPC at Sawgrass, and by '87 he was named chief designer for PGA TOUR Design Services.

With input from Chi Chi Rodriguez in 1991, Weed routed the TPC Tampa Bay, site of the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am and one of the most respected and challenging sites on the Champions Tour, through cypress trees and wetlands on a flat parcel of land.
